Family Resource Program

The BC Association of Family Resource Programs (FRP-BC) is a not-for-profit provincial organization supporting families with pre-schoolers through a variety of free programs offered in Cranbrook and Kimberley.

FRP Kimberley

FRP Kimberley a variety of free programs at the Kimberley Early Learning Center 1850 Warren Avenue.

Baby Goose is a free drop-in program for families with new-borns and babies up to 18 months old. Babies and parents sing, tickle, play and learn with facilitators from Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy and Public Health.  Thursdays 9:30 am – 10:30 am and 11:00 am – 12:00 pm 

Family Night is a free drop-in program for families provided in partnership with Strong Start, the Bellies to Babies program and CAPC.   Families play in the gym and then gather in the kitchen for a nutritious supper prepared by FRP staff.  Pregnant parents then attend Bellies to Babies while other families attend Strong Start for crafts, fine-motor play and circle time.  Wednesdays 3:30 – 6:30 pm.

Parent Literacy Programs (Play & Learn; You Make the Difference) are offered by Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy for eight week sessions. Childcare is provided by FRP.

Early Learning Center Seasonal Celebrations are offered in partnership with Strong Start and CAPC. Families take part in theme-based play, crafts and games in the gym or outdoors that may include visits from local dignitaries, the fire department truck, ambulance or other exciting activities.  FRP provides snacks and facilitation.

 

Early Learning Centre Volunteer Program, coordinated by FRP, involves local seniors in assisting with childcare for programs.

Making Connections is an eight-week program for parents of primary grade students offered by Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy. FRP provides programming for younger siblings.

Alphabet Soup, offered by FRP in partnership with Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy and the local Food Bank, is an opportunity for parents and their pre-schoolers to cook and eat lunch together, and learn about nutrition through a variety of crafts and stories.

Food Skills for Families, offered by the Canadian Diabetes Association, offers a six-week cooking program for parents of young families. While preparing and sharing a nutritious meal, parents discuss budgeting, meal planning, nutrition, adapting recipes, and interpreting labels and advertising.  FRP provides childcare.

Money Sense is a six-week program offered by the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy covering basic budgeting, credit, banking, taxes, investing, and consumerism. FRP provides childcare.

FRP Cranbrook

 

Tumble Time is for children up to age 6. It is an unstructured group where children can run, climb, and play with their parents’/caregiver’s supervision. No sign-up required. Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30-11:00  at St. Mary’s Catholic Independent School at 1701 5th Street South, Cranbrook, BC V1C 1K1

Wiggle, Giggle and Grow is for families with children from birth to six years of age.Join us for a nutritious snack, play with toys, create crafts, sing songs, read stories, and meet other families. Wednesdays 10:00 – 12:00 at the Kootenay Child Development Centre #22 12th Avenue North, where Bellies to Babies is located. 

Parents in the Park is a summertime drop-in program at Rotary Park in July and August on Wednesday from 10:00-12:00, weather permitting.
